We’re everyday people with an extraordinary purpose — improving people’s lives. Our team is made up of thinkers, talkers, planners, makers, builders and everything in between. Together, we’re turning our passions into happier communities.
When customers use our software, their communities get stronger. Our tools empower everyone in multifamily to improve their operations and maximize returns, which means they’re building better experiences for their residents. When property people are happy, we’re happy. That’s why we’re HappyCo.
HappyCo is changing the way millions of units are being managed, across North America and beyond. But don’t just take our word for it. Ask our customers. They’re seeing the difference our solutions can make — for their teams, their properties, and their residents. We’d love to show you how.
The Happy platform enables property managers, owners, and lenders to take better care of millions of apartments. Our tools capture all the photos, details, and rich data our customers need to manage and maintain their properties better.
In 2011, CEO Jindou Lee, a successful entrepreneur turned real estate investor, found himself over-leveraged when several properties he owned turned simultaneously. He needed to recoup his residents’ deposits to quickly rehab the properties and put them back on the market, but he soon discovered he had no recourse to those deposits, as his property management companies lacked sufficient documentation. The traditional paper property inspection process had failed. Jindou wanted to find a mobile solution that could provide better documentation for property inspections and streamline operations functions, but there was nothing like it on the market. So he decided to make his own. With his background in tech and design, he joined forces with his friend Andrew Mackenzie-Ross, a brilliant software developer. Together, they worked with early customers to understand how they conducted inspections, identified their pain points, and collaborated on an ideal solution. The Happy Platform quickly became the leading mobile inspection solution for property managers, with hundreds of businesses signing on in the first year.
In multifamily, news travels fast, and when word got out about our tools, it wasn’t long before HappyCo was working with some of the leading names in the industry, including some of the top 50 NMHC owners and managers. Working closely with these partners, we realized that we were all united by a common goal: to produce better property conditions, enable more effective staff, and create happier residents. This insight led HappyCo to expand our offerings to include business intelligence, task management, and certified integration with the leading property management systems, starting in 2016 with Yardi Voyager and now including MRI, RealPage, Entrata, ResMan, Rent Manager and AppFolio. In 2018, HappyCo joined forces with Freddie Mac Multifamily to introduce the Optigo Happy℠ inspection platform, a tool to help multifamily lenders connect seamlessly with Freddie Mac to deliver the data needed to underwrite and close loans faster. Our product and service suite has continued to expand with the addition of Happy Due Diligence and Call Complete in 2021 and the virtual maintenance service, Happy Force, in 2022.
Today, HappyCo is thriving, profitable, and continues to evolve our offerings to better serve the needs of multifamily. Whether we’re introducing powerful remote features designed to help lessen the lingering market impacts that resulted from COVID-19, building new products, or pursuing new integration partners, we’re always striving to make life better for multifamily communities. We love what we do, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
